How do I get funding for Brain in Hand?

If you’re a university student

You may be able to get Brain in Hand through the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA). Contact your student finance organisation and make an appointment with a DSA needs assessor. They’ll make a recommendation on whether Brain in Hand is available to you.

If you’re at school

You may be able to get Brain in Hand as part of an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Ask your school or college support staff to help you with applying and getting an assessment, or with adding Brain in Hand to an existing plan.

If you’re already working or about to start

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) offers the ‘Access to Work’ scheme, which provides help for people who are already working or will start soon. Speak to your employer about arranging an assessment.

If you receive government support

If you receive support from the government or local support services, for example, Personal Independence Payments (PIP), personal budgets, and direct benefit payments, you may be able to get Brain in Hand (especially if the support helps you to stay independent).
