You’ll add your own content to your Brain in Hand diary using the website. You can then access that content using the app. When you log in, select ‘Diary’ and you’ll see a screen like the one below.
You can use the purple and white ‘plus’ sign to add content, or you can select your chosen day and time within the screen.
Using different types of content
We use the words ‘events‘, ‘activities’, ‘problems’ and ‘solutions’ to describe your content.
Events – an ‘event’ is something you need to schedule into your day at a specific time, for example a meeting, a class or a shopping trip.
If you want to add something that doesn’t happen at a specific time, you can add an ‘unplanned event’.
Activities – sometimes it’s helpful to add more detail to an event. You can work with your personal coach to build ‘activities’ that contain a set of problems and their solutions, then drag and drop them into your events whenever you need to.
Problems – you can add a ‘problem’ to make a note of something that could cause difficulty, or just something important that you need to consider.
Solutions – you can then add ‘solutions’ to any ‘problems’ so if something does go wrong, you know what to do.
It’s up to you how you use the types of content – you can add problems and solutions directly to an event if you want to, without adding activities. The content is flexible so you can build up your diary in the way that makes most sense to you.
Let’s look an example
Let’s say you’re adding an event called ‘Early morning start’. Once you select ‘Create’, you’ll be able to add more specific content.
Here we’ve added an activity from the library called ‘Travel’. It has four problems attached to it.
Each problem also has solutions, as shown in the “I’m running late for my train” problem.
As you work through adding events, activities, problems and solutions, remember to select the green ‘Done’ button. That ensures your content is updated and saved, so you can access it from the mobile app.
Watch a demonstration of how to add content on the website.
