How do I use Brain in Hand to track my mood?

Modified on Fri, 22 Sep 2023 at 02:39 PM

In your Brain in Hand app you can use the traffic lights feature to track your mood.

There are three colour options:

  • Green, for when you’re feeling okay or better than okay.
  • Amber, for when things could be better.
  • Red, for when you’re not doing so well.

When you select a colour for your mood, you can also choose a tag such as ‘anxious’ or ‘happy’ to add more details. You can also add your own notes.

All this goes into your timeline, which you can view in your app or web app account later.

When you select red, you’ll be asked if you want to request support from the on-demand support service. If you do, then a responder will contact you by phone, text or email to help you get back on track.

You can read more about the on-demand support service here.

Here are some reasons to use the traffic lights

  • You can check in with yourself in the moment to better understand how you’re feeling and why.
  • You can look back on how you’ve been feeling, where and when, either by yourself or with your coach. It may help you make some useful changes or come up with strategies for coping with challenges.
  • The system helps to prompt you to ask for help when you need it.
