What level of literacy skills do Brain in Hand users need?

Modified on Thu, 21 Sep, 2023 at 3:09 PM

Brain in Hand requires a basic level of literacy. Users can enter all their information in their own words, but it’s still primarily a text-based service.

Every Brain in Hand user gets a personal coach. At the beginning of their journey, the user and coach will work together to think about the user’s strengths, challenges, and goals. This makes sure that each user knows what they want to use Brain in Hand for and understands how the technology works.

Coaches are also available throughout the duration of a user’s time with Brain in Hand to review how things are going, set new goals and build new strategies to overcome difficulties.

The coach will adjust coaching sessions to ensure they’re accessible, based on a user's communication preferences. This might include using the chat function in Microsoft Teams, or rescheduling a session.  Users can also invite a supporter to any coaching session.
